Relationship of surgery to preventing and treating disabling impairments in lower income countries. Focus will be on sensory impairments (blindness and deafness) and physical impairment.

Critiques the current and historical provision of surgical care services to indigenous communities in Canada and globally. Examines challenges and opportunities confronting both the clinician and the service delivery system, embracing lessons learned from these communities. Urban centres can be designed and managed to contribute to biodiversity conservation commitments. Topics include designing human-dominated landscapes to promote biodiversity, the tools required, assessing outcomes, and the benefits and negatives of nature in the city.

Governance theory and ways of applying a governance perspective to strategic decision-making in urban forestry.

Overview of the field and current state-of-art of arboriculture, with emphasis on current research and good practices. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.
