Global problems in food and nutrition including the political, social and cultural factors underlying malnutrition in different contexts. Assessment of nutritional status, maternal infant and child feeding practices, nutrition knowledge, food intake and household food security as a basis for culturally appropriate nutrition intervention programs. Of primary interest is the development, implementation and assessment of cost-effective, evidence based means of addressing malnutrition among young children, adolescents and reproductive-age women, and improving pregnancy outcomes. Micronutrient interventions such as home based fortification with Micronutrient Powders, has been the focus of recent large scale intervention projects. We work collaboratively with the UN and international organizations and governments on applied nutrition and food security intervention projects.
