The 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) summit is taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024. The Conference brings together countries, civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to accelerate action on the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change

Each year UBC receives a limited number of observer badges for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP) negotiation space, known as the Blue Zone. UBC delegates have an opportunity to observe negotiations between delegates representing nation states and the EU and to engage in the many side events taking place at the conference.

Current UBC students, staff, and faculty are now invited to apply to join UBC's delegation at COP29.

Applications will close on July 1, 2024 and applicants will be informed about selections by September.  Selected undergraduate students are eligible for up to $1500 and selected graduate students are eligible for up to $1000 to cover travel and accommodations.

Past COP delegates have been featured in local and global media and have shared their experiences with the UBC community through live webinars during the conference.
