Thursday, October 17, 2013 - 12:30

Thu, October 17, 2013 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM BEATY BIODIVERSITY CENTRE. Dr. Greg Crutsinger and Matthew Barbour, Departement of Zoology, University of British Columbia

This talk will present results from a Peter Wall Institute UBC Visiting Scholar Abroad award to study one-hectare plots that exclude large herbivores across a rainfall gradient in the Laikipia district of Kenya. Large mammalian herbivores are key players in the ecosystems of East Africa, yet their direct and indirect effects on the diversity and structure of the plant community, associated food webs of invertebrates, and ecosystem processes remains under explored.

A free event, open to the public. Light lunch provided.
