Thu, September 22, 2016 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM UBC FARM. $38 ($30 for registered students -- valid student ID is required) + GST. If you've ever wanted to take your routine classroom learning out of doors, this workshop will give you practical strategies for integrating cross-curricular learning in your school garden. Suitable for both practicing and pre-service classroom teachers, we will explore the many entry points the revised curriculum provides us to jump into a hands-on, highly motivating learning environment. We will look at how classroom teachers can meaningfully integrate the First People's Principles of Learning into their garden classroom and participants will leave with ready-to-use ideas and lessons that will support their garden teaching, no matter what gardening skills they have!

About the Instructor: Megan Zeni is a public school teacher with a passion for integrating curriculum into school-yard learning gardens. She is the author of the The Classroom Gardener teacher's guide and believes that just about anything can be taught in a school garden! Megan works alongside the awesome team at Victory Gardens Vancouver to provide a comprehensive, inquiry-based, school-yard gardening program for kids and teachers with all levels of garden knowledge.
