Thu, December 11, 2014 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM MUSIC BUILDING. This performance is presented by the Peter Wall Institute’s International Research Roundtable entitled “Seafood in an uncertain future: From scenarios to policies.” Researchers will develop scenarios about the future of seafood sustainability and explore the question: Do we have enough seafood to feed the world’s demand in the era of climate change?

UBC’s Laptop orchestra will present two works involving live instruments, electronic sounds and video projection which present different interpretations of the interplay between nature and humans with respect to oceans, fishing and the earth’s ecosystem. An art exhibit showcasing digital art inspired by ocean sustainability issues is also featured. The exhibit includes fifteen original pieces by American artist Jenn Paul Glaser. Each piece is uniquely created from the artist’s conversations with researchers working in different ocean-related disciplines.
