The Climate and Wellbeing Resource Development Lead will play a key role in the new project called “Wellbeing and Climate Change Intersect in the Classroom – Developing a Resource Toolkit and an Instructor Network to Support Student Learning”. With support from staff supervisors from the Office of Wellbeing Strategy and the Sustainability Hub, the student will lead the first stage of development of a web-based toolkit that supports healthy, equitable and experiential learning opportunities about climate change in the classroom with a strong focus on student wellbeing.

This position will support the development and coordination of the Sustainability Ambassadors Program. Alongside their community partner, False Creek Friends, the Environmental Justice Lead will develop a comprehensive curriculum informed by various pedagogies of care, intersectional advocacy, the UN SDGs and the tenets of UBC’s climate action plan. In close collaboration with the Sustainability Hub team, mentor, and their community partner, the Environmental Justice Lead will support the development of a sustainability and climate-justice-oriented curriculum and facilitate learning opportunities for the Sustainability Ambassadors Program.

The C+CP Climate Action Lead will focus on developing and coordinating two projects related to CAP 2030, specifically targeting scope 2 and scope 3 emissions. The C+CP Climate Action Lead will help build upon the Sustainability Hub’s work in fostering a culture of engagement and advocacy by facilitating community engagement for the UBC community related to scope 3 emissions and expanding sustainability education opportunities and resources for the UBC community related to scope 2 emissions. The Climate Program Assistant will support climate programs and initiatives such as the Climate Teaching Connector Program. This role will foster cross-discipline collaboration on climate education issues through a climate justice lens. The student will support a cohort of climate-focused graduate students that act as a supportive network that offers teaching opportunities to integrate climate content into UBC courses. this position will facilitate program coordination as well as UBC community outreach and engagement with faculty and students to promote the Climate Teaching Connector program across the UBC campus.

The Program Assistant will work with the Urban Innovation Research (UIR) staff on the management of existing Campus as a Living Lab (CLL) programming and the development of new activities. One of the key roles will be supporting knowledge exchange and dissemination through the development of written and visual materials for the CLL website, presentations, and reports that highlight various projects and people involved in CLL at UBC. The Program Assistant will also work to develop specific materials and activities that advance practices in key topic areas, such as the climate emergency response.
