lentil-undergroundLiz Carlisle, a protégé of Michael Pollan, is coming to UBC to tell the remarkable story of an unheralded group of Montana farmers who have defied corporate agribusiness by launching a unique sustainable food movement. Dave Oien, founding farmer and CEO of Timeless Foods, will be telling his story along with Liz, and Chef Steve Golob of UBC’s Place Vanier will be conducting a cooking demonstration with the unique heritage grains and pulses from the Montana farmers featured in the book.

Liz Carlisle is a fellow at the Center for Diversified Farming Systems at the University of California, Berkeley.  She holds a Ph.D. in Geography, also from Berkeley, and a B.A. from Harvard University and is a native of Missoula, Montana.
