Examination of the psychological and behavioural processes of athletes from a social justice perspective. The focus will be on the role of social structures, sociocultural norms, power relations, and social identities in shaping athletes’ perceptions and lived experiences in sport. Exploration of the role of physical activity and exercise on brain health, mental health, and underpinning psychological and biological mechanisms. This course deepens students’ capacity to read and interpret scientific evidence. [3-0] Prerequisite: All of KIN 150, KIN 205, KIN 206.

The municipality as a legal entity; its creation, operation and powers; by-laws and their validity; contractual liability; judicial review; business regulation; expropriation and land use control.

A foundation course dealing with the regulatory and policy framework for the protection of the environment in Canada, such as pollution control and biodiversity conservation. Credit will only be granted for one of LAW_V 387 LAW_V 587.

A foundation course dealing with legal problems common to the management of natural resources such as fisheries, mines and minerals, petroleum, forests, and water resources.

The Clinic Practicum is a collaborative effort where clinicians work in teams of two to four on cases and projects that respond to human rights violations and/or global injustice. Pass/fail.

This seminar explores issues of social justice for families in the legal system, necessary to undertake the Rise Womens Legal Centre Clinic in the Fall, Spring and Summer terms. Corequisite: LAW 429.

Ethical dimensions of legal practice in Canada, including legislation, regulations, rules and cases, as well as the roles of lawyers, the legal profession and the legal system. Credit will be granted for only one of LAW_V 468 or LAW_V 588.

Designed to explore the legal system in relation to disadvantaged members of society. Under supervision, students will act for clients in a range of legal matters and can expect to appear before courts and tribunals. Students will also work with community-based organisations.
