This year marks a decade of the UBC Sustainability Initiative. Ten years of connecting, sharing knowledge, and working in partnership to advance sustainability Teaching, Learning, Research, Operations and Infrastructure, and Community Development. But as we face multiple global crises related to health, climate, biodiversity, and social justice, we recognize how much more there is to do.

At UBC we are proud of our achievements, but conscious of the urgent need to accelerate action on critical issues like the climate crisis. Our efforts to map UBC Sustainability activities to the SDGs in this report are an early attempt to identify which goals and targets UBC is actively working towards through our three sustainability pillars, and explore areas where we might collaborate with other organizations to advance shared goals.

Across UBC, faculty and students are teaching, learning and exploring sustainability through hundreds of courses, programs and research projects.
As a large, research-intensive university, with considerable land, assets and utilities in Vancouver and the Okanagan, UBC is in a unique position to use our campuses as test beds for sustainability.
UBC is home to a community of people that live, work, learn and take part in everything that UBC has to offer. Each year, we design and deliver quality programming and events that leverage our worldclass assets and public spaces.
