This course provides students with practical tools used globally to evaluate policies and investment projects in the food and resource sectors. Students learn three core analytical tools: Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) and Domestic Resource Cost (DRC) for policy evaluation, and Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) for investment project appraisal. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

This course is designed to introduce students to the principles and applications of project monitoring and evaluation (M and E). The world of international development faces many challenges, one of which is the failure of assistance interventions (aid projects and programmes). Students will develop a practical understanding of the logical processes by which projects are designed and implemented, including the need for external evaluation in order to assess the efficacy, outcomes, and sustainability of these interventions.
