Saturday, October 20, 2018 - 13:00

Sat, October 20, 2018 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM HENRY ANGUS BUILDING. $5. This annual symposium on Global Sustainable Development provides the UBC and wider Vancouver community the opportunity to come together to engage in dialogue and to critically explore how systems within international development can and should be disrupted.

On October 20th, 2018, UBC students returning from 3 month international and regional service learning (ISL/RSL) placements over the summer will share their experiences, learning, and lingering questions at a post-engagement symposium. This year’s symposium theme – “disruption” considers the multifaceted connections made, approaches taken, and challenges explored within community engagement.

The symposium will feature:

An opening address that will highlight experiences with system disruption in community development;
Concurrent student presentations showcasing student learning from summer course based placements;
A closing reception for all attendees. This will give attendees a chance to mingle and continue discussions.
