UBC encourages students to collaborate with peers and mentors on sustainability-related projects that span disciplines through paid and volunteer programs including Sustainability Ambassadors, the SEEDS Program, and Sustainability Scholars. These programs match students with on-and-off campus partners to explore topics such as climate change, food security, sustainable transportation, biodiversity, and more.
Student engagement is at the heart of co-curricular learning at UBC. Through Climate Emergency funding and new partnerships, we’re investing further to grow our engagement programs. Our Sustainability Ambassadors Program supports students to host a series of engagement projects and events, while graduate students take on research through the Sustainability Scholars Program to help address the challenges faced by regional organizations.
In addition, the SEEDS Program brings together students, faculty, staff and community partners to advance sustainability by using the Campus as a Living Lab.

New climate justice webinar series watched by over 2,500
In response to the focus on climate justice as part of UBC’s Declaration of a Climate Emergency and recommendations from its Climate Emergency Task Force Report, the UBC Sustainability Initiative launched the Climate Justice Webinar Series, featuring sessions that examined climate justice from various perspectives, locally and globally.
