UBC’s strategic plan, Place and Promise, contains nine commitments with goals and actions designed to realize our vision for the future. Sustainability is one of the key commitments, and embeds sustainability into the university's strategic direction.

Vancouver Campus Plan

Updated in 2010, the Vancouver Campus Plan incorporates sustainability as the first of five interrelated strategies identified to achieve the plan's vision.

Climate Action Plan

The UBC Climate Action Plan identifies the University’s aggressive Greenhouse Gas emissions reduction targets and strategies, to guide the Vancouver campus in its ongoing transition toward a low carbon future.

Strategic Transportation Plans

UBC's Strategic Transportation Plan provides guidelines and recommendations for managing changes to UBC’s transportation systems, proposes solutions to many campus transportation issues, and includes strategies for implementing important changes in how we travel to, from and around campus.

Inspirations and Aspirations: UBC Sustainability Strategy 2006-2010

This strategy, produced in consultation with over 20 UBC departments, all 12 faculties and all major student organization at UBC Vancouver, provided a framework and identified major goals, objectives and targets for sustainability at UBC.

Waste Action Plan

UBC is currently in the process of developing a Waste Action Plan to enhance waste diversion and reduction efforts to move towards a zero waste campus.

Water Action Plan

UBC is currently in the process of developing a Water Action Plan to enhance water conservation efforts and move towards a campus-wide closed-loop water system. 

Community Energy and Emissions Plan

UBC is currently in the process of developing a Community Energy and Emissions Plan to outline strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in UBC's residential community.

Integrated Stormwater Management Plan

UBC is currently in the process of developing an Integrated Stormwater Management Plan to improve stormwater management on campus.
