With over 400 faculty investigating sustainability-related topics at UBC, it can be hard to know where to start. We’ve curated a list of researchers with expertise across a wide range of disciplines.

To find a researcher in a particular discipline, enter a Name, Faculty, Department, Unit, or Research Interest in the text field below and search. Use an exact search term. Boolean search will not work.

CAN YOU HELP IMPROVE OUR LIST?

We welcome suggestions for new additions or updates to our ‘Find a Researcher’ tool. Send us your name, department, research interests, and website link (if applicable).

The People & Planet Friendly Home is a large-scale, multidisciplinary research endeavour spearheaded by ICICS that seeks to develop a unique sustainable housing solution that is both environmentally friendly and improves the quality of life for the occupants of these spaces. Interrelated foundational research in communications, energy management, health and wellness, and home operations is being carried out by 37graduate students and 22 UBC faculty members from 4 different faculties. Phase II will address research in additional areas, including weather-specific water/energy harvesting roofing and cladding; electric-car wireless charging/home energy storage; landscaping; waste management (including air/sewage heat recovery systems; accessibility; interchangeable window systems; interior natural lighting systems; integrated sensors for structural, seismic, moisture, temperature monitoring; etc.

Influence of environmental temperature on the dynamics of ecological communities. Understanding how patterns of species abundance are related to ocean temperature as it varies from place to place, season to season, and with climate change. Effects of temperature on individual metabolic rate in turn influence interactions among species or dispersal of marine organisms. Effects of changing predator diversity in the ocean, and the consequences of invasive species in marine habitats.
