IndigenEYEZ blends land-based learning with the arts and best practices in community-building. Their approach—the Creative Community Model—is being used around the world. It has been refined over the past two decades by PYE Global (www.PYEGlobal.org), an organization that generously shares its knowledge with many partners. IndigenEYEZ has adapted this approach especially for First Nations, whose participants report that these workshops are both inspiring and effective. They say that IndigenEYEZ helps them make meaningful improvements to how they deliver existing programs, and report renewed energy, improved program design, and increased capacity to engage youth at a deeper level.
In this session, Warren Hooley will introduce the Creative Community Model as practiced by IndigenEYEZ. He will discuss how adaptable this approach is to many situations, groups, challenges and dynamics, and how learning both technical and creative facilitation skills can help facilitators accomplish their goals effectively with individual participants as well as with groups.
