The UBC Biometeorology and Soil Physics Group studies the effects of climate variability and disturbance on the carbon and water cycles in Canadian forested ecosystems. The main focus of our group is to better understand the micrometeorological and physiological processes controlling carbon dioxide, water vapor, energy exchange between natural and managed forest ecosystems and the atmosphere. Research is ongoing in the following settings: harvested west-coast temperate, mature southern boreal, mountain pine beetle attacked lodgepole pine and hybrid poplar agroforestry plantations.
