Aboriginal Fisheries Research Unit

The Aboriginal Fisheries Research Unit, led by Dr. David Close, employs a multi-disciplinary approach, including aquatic ecology and fish physiology directed toward the maintenance of sustainable aquatic resources that support aboriginal communities. Our goal is to develop and maintain a unit that integrates traditional knowledge, cultural values, aquatic ecology, and understanding of fish biology and physiology in order to effectively implement tools for the benefit of Indigenous people’s resource management.
