Orion Henderson
Director, Operational Sustainability  
Orion is the Director, Operational Sustainability at the University of British Columbia.  In this role, he directs the activities of the Campus Sustainability (CS). Orion develops strategic plans for CS and is responsible for directing the development, planning, managing, monitoring and evaluation of CS programs. Orion received his BEng in Chemical Engineering from CIT, Ireland and his MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, England.

David Crichton
Data Clerk
David provides clerical and administrative support for Campus Sustainability and Transportation Planning. He has experience working as an administrator and instructor at a tourism school. David received his BA in Anthropology from the University of Victoria.

Bud Fraser
Water and Zero Waste Engineer 
As Water and Zero Waste Engineer within Campus Sustainability, Bud’s main priorities are to develop plans and work with the many units across the UBC campus toward achieving waste reduction and water conservation goals. With diverse experience in both engineering and planning, Bud is a Professional Engineer and holds a Master’s degree in Bio-Resource Engineering from UBC.

Kara McDougall
Manager, Engagement  
Kara oversees the coordination, support and enhancement of Campus Sustainability’s engagement programs and initiatives including Sustainability Coordinators, UBC SEEDS, Sustainability in Rez and the Green Building Tours. Kara received her BA in International Studies and Sustainable Community Development from Simon Fraser University and a Diploma in Permaculture Design from the UK.

Charlene Ponto
Coordinator, Reporting and Research 
Charlene coordinates UBC’s internal and external sustainability monitoring and reporting. She also coordinates research and communications projects for the Campus Sustainability office. Charlene holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Communications and a Certificate in Sustainable Community Development from Simon Fraser University. 

Carmen Raiche de Araujo
Administrative Secretary
Carmen provides confidential administrative and secretarial assistance to the Director, Operational Sustainability and the Campus Sustainability team. She has experience working as Business Administrator and Financial Assistant. Carmen received her BSc in Biology from the Universidade de Brasilia, Brazil.

Kyle Reese
Community Energy Manager
Kyle oversees the policies and programming that are aimed at reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions for the UTown@UBC community, including the Residential Environmental Assessment Program, district energy planning, and the upcoming Community Energy and Emission Plan.  He received his B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. 

Liska Richer
Coordinator, UBC SEEDS Program
Liska co-manages the UBC SEEDS (Social, Ecological, Economic, Development Studies) Program. She is currently a PhD Candidate in UBC’s Faculty of Land & Food Systems, and has a BA in Sociology. Since 2004, Liska has worked on a jointly initiated SEEDS program, the UBC Food Systems Project, which strives to create a more sustainable food system at UBC.

Aviva Savelson
Manager, Strategic Planning
Aviva is managing several strategic planning efforts for Campus Sustainability.  Key projects include: the development of the Campus Sustainability Engagement and Social Marketing Strategy as well as Operational Sustainability Planning and Monitoring with various campus business units. Aviva is a Registered Professional Planner and has worked in the field of Community Sustainability Planning for over 8 years. She received her MA in Resource Management and Environmental Studies at UBC.

Brenda Sawada
Coordinator, UBC SEEDS Program
Brenda is the founder and coordinator of UBC SEEDS (Social, Ecological, Economic, Development Studies), Canada's only campus initiative bringing together students, staff and faculty to specifically address sustainability issues. Before joining UBC, Brenda co-founded the Sage Foundation in Vancouver to raise awareness about sustainability.

Lillian Zaremba
Climate and Energy Engineer
Lillian oversees the implementation of the Climate Action Plan and is responsible for campus greenhouse gas reporting. She also manages projects that conserve energy in buildings. Lillian received her B.Sc.(Eng) in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph and her M.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering from UBC.
